Club Captains Report

Mens Club Captain - Alex Cooke

What have our successes been this year? • We’ve managed to solidify our M9s.

• M8s have managed to stay up after gaining promotion last season.

• M4 & M6s have had a relatively successful year in the East league.

• Top half finish for M5s

• Promotion for M3

• Our Tier 3 Cup team have reached the semi finals on 13th April. Come along and support!

What have been our failures this year?

• At the start of the season we didn’t put as much care and attention into our keepers selection - this is something that’s really difficult for us as captains and outfield players to judge as frankly we don’t have the knowledge. Next year in preseason we will look to introduce goalkeeper selection days where all the captains are there to ensure subjectivity is reduced - making it an open discussion between captains. The more views we have the less subjective it could be.

• We’ve seen a decrease of availability over the last couple of years. We hope with next years financial model it will incentivise higher availability.

Womens Club Captain - Lauren Swan

It’s been another successful season for the women of West Hampstead, with 2 promotions and zero relegations!

Women’s 1’s have had a successful first season in London prem, landing themselves mid table in a very tight league - only 7 points off 3rd! Our womens 2’s are sat in 4th currently, with a team full of new members we’re ready to solidify this and push for that podium finish next season. W3’s have narrowly missed out on promotion in another nail biting league, jury is still out this year on whether or not they’ll clinch the 3rd space spot so watch this space. The women’s 4’s are in line for promotion after what can only be described as a dominant season, with the top of the league clash to be played on EOSD day at 12pm it’s sure to be one to catch! Our women’s 5’s in the same league are sat 6th as of writing, well clear of the relegation battle they were facing this time last year! Last weekend saw our W6’s secure their promotion with some 10-0 wins it’s hard to be surprised by this one! Our W7’s as always has been full of new members, with over 40 different members playing in this squad, and a big thanks to those players supporting them in goal from across the club!

It goes without saying we couldn’t possibly have such a great season without the support of the committee, officials and coaches who’ve worked with all of our teams throughout the season. Of course I want to say a massive thank you to the captains who have supported week in and week out you really are invaluable to us and you have all made my life so easy. Cheers to a great year and on to the next!
